Telecaster Style Guitars

My friend, and fellow luthier, Graham McDonald, goave me a pair of NOS Fender necks, one Telecaster, one Stratocaster, which he no longer needed or wanted. As it happened, I had a pair of Fender Humbuckers which I’d bought while still at school (in about 1974). I’d never successfully found the right guitar for them, and they had just lived in their boxes in the shed, where some possums had been living.

So I decided to build a Tele Thinline to put on the neck and use the humbuckers, which I cleaned of the detritus of possums. While I was at it I decided to make a Red Tele with a Bigsby, for no other reason than I’d always wanted one. The pickups in the red one are Lollar.

They sound great, but I don’t like the Strat neck, so I am making a new neck for the red one.

However, the humbuckers have found their home, and sound great in the swamp ash body with the Maple cap.
